New lesson (35’) Activities 1: Reading (10’) a) Objective: To help Ss read and understand specific information about the story of Quang Trung b) Content: Filling in the blanks, writing True/ False c) Products: Ss know more about the hero Quang Trung and improve reading comprehension d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, analytical and synthesizing skills, public speaking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher’s activities Ss’ activities a. Read Phương's movie review and fill in the blanks. * Pre - reading - Let Ss look at the picture and introduce the story of Quang Trung - Pre - teach vocabulary (if necessary) * While - reading: - Have Ss read the review and fill in the blanks - Have Ss check their answers - Give feedback and correct b. Here are two movies about famous people from history. With a partner, use the notes to make sentences about the famous American, George Washington. * Pre - writing: - Explain what to include in a movie review * While - writing: - Have Ss use the notes to make sentences - Give feedback and correct the answers. b. Now, use the notes to write a short movie review. Write 50 to 60 words. - Have Ss use the notes to write a movie review - Feedback and correct * Post - writing: - Have Ss read/ retell their reviews aloud * Note: Teacher can have Ss do some exercises of unit 6 review if there is time) - Listen to the explanation carefully and write down if necessary - Work in pairs to make sentences about George Washington - Read the sentences aloud individually * Possible sentences: -George Washington was the first president of the USA. - He was born in 1732 and became a general in 1775. - He fought many battles against the British. - His army won the Battle of Yorktown in 1781.
