I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to...
1. Knowledge 
- discuss what outdoor activities they want to do; 
- listen for gist/ detailed information about places to visit;
- ask for confirmation;
2. Ability 
- improve speaking and listening skills;
- develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills;
3. Quality
- have a positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially about the topic “The world around us”.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Warm up: (5’)
a) Objective: To activate students' prior knowledge on the topic of the unit and lead into the topic
	 of the lesson. 
b) Content: Asking and answering (chatting)
c) Product: Ss can plan for a trip/ outdoor activities
d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, creativity
e) Organization of the activity:

 *Chatting: 
- Ask some questions about outdoor activities they want to do. 
* Possible questions:
1. Do you like going out or staying at home?
2. What do you like to do when you go out?
3. What are your plans for your next holiday/ trip? / Do you have any plans for your next holiday/ trip?
4. What kind of entertainment is popular in your country? 
....
- Listen and answer the questions individually.
B. New lesson (35’)
Activity 1: New Words (15’)
a) Objective: To help Ss learn new words about outdoor activities they want to do. 
b) Contents:
- Filling in the blanks
- Listening and repeating
- Discussing what outdoor activities they want to do 
c) Product: Ss can use words about outdoor activities correctly in communication.
d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, presentation, creativity 
e) Organization of the activity:

a. Fill in the blanks. Listen and repeat. 
- Pre teach new words. 
- Elicit the meaning of new words from the students. (By showing the pictures)
- Have Ss practice the new words.
- Calls some Ss to read the new words aloud. 
- Check vocabulary: Rub out and remember
(Teacher helps Ss to remember the new words by deleting the words and then asks them to call out.) 
- Ask Ss to fill in the blanks. 
- Give feedback and check the answers with the whole class. 
- Play the audio. (CD2 – 27)
b. Discuss what outdoor activities you want to do.
 - Demonstrate the activity with a student. 
T: What outdoor activities do you want to do? 
Or: I want to go rafting. 
- Encourage Ss to give more outdoor activities: 
(Go fishing, go boating, go swimming, go hunting...)
- Have Ss talk about the activities from task or other activities:
- Call some pairs to demonstrate in front of the class.
 - Guess the meanings of the new words by looking at the pictures and copy new words into their notebooks.

Activity 2: Listening (20’)
a) Objective: To listen for gist and specific information about going on vacation, know how to confirm information.
b) Contents: 
- Listening and ticking
- Listening and filling in the blanks
c) Products: Students can listen for gist and understand specific/ detailed information about going on vacation, and know how to confirm information in communication.
d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, analytical and synthesizing skills.
e) Organization of the activity:

a. Listen to three friends talking about where to go on vacation. Tick (ü )the place they decide to go.
- Set up the listening task (have Ss look at the questions, key words, pictures, heading ) to introduce the topic.
- Have Ss guess the answer.
- Play the audio once. (CD2 – 28)
- Check the answer with the whole class.
b.Now, listen and fill in the blanks.
- Have Ss look at the questions and guess the answers.
- Ask the students to listen and fill the blanks.
- Play the audio twice. (CD2 – 28)
- Give feedback and correct Ss’ answers (play the audio again and pause to check if necessary).
Optional activity 
-Have Ss work in groups of 4 to talk about where they want to go for their summer vacation.
-Walk around the class to give support if necessary. 
- Have Ss share their ideas in front of the class.
*Conversation Skill
- Focus attention on the conversation skill box. 
- Explain that we can ask for confirmation and give examples.
- Play the audio. (CD2 – 29)
- Have some students practice saying the phrases in pairs. 
- Explore the listening task. 
- Guess the answer.
- Listen carefully and tick (ü) the place they decide to go. 
- Give the answer.

 Explore the task.
 Listen and fill in the table with the missing information individually.
 - Share the answers with their partners.
 - Give the answer as a whole class.

- Places to stay: hotel
