- We have 3 lessons a week. In total we have 105 periods in a school year including the revision lessons and tests.
- Tests: oral and written tests.
- In each term: each student will be tested:
- Orally: twice
- 15 minute :twice
- 45 minute : twice
- And term final test: once.

About the textbook.
- There are 12 units in the textbook divided into 2 terms: 6 units each and we have 7 periods for each unit. In the first term, there are two themes: 
Our Communities and Our Heritage.

Period 2: A closer look 1.
Period 3: A closer look 2.
Period 4: Communication.
Period 5: Skills 1 Reading and speaking.
Period 6: Skills 2 Listening and writing.
Period 7: Looking back and project.
2. Introduction ways of learning effectively:
1. Vocabulary: - Preparing new words for each lesson; ( Looking at the glossary at the end of the textbook or looking up in your dictionary)
2. Grammar: Looking the new structures relating to the language focus in each unit in the book map; Learning new structures and doing exercises.
3. Listening: Listening to the CD in order to improve your listening skill. Listening to the Programmes in English on radio or on TV.
4. Reading: Knowing as many new words as possible, answering questions skill; guessing the meaning of words in context.
5. Speaking: Practicing speaking English with friends and teacher as much as possible; Try to be confident when speaking, don’t be afraid of mistakes.
6. Writing: Making meaningful sentences; writing short paragraphs, writing letters, postcards.

* Presentation the conversation:
- Ask Ss to look at the picture and answer the questions:
 + What is Phong doing?
 + Who are Vy and Duy?
- Teacher sets the scene: Today is the first day of the new school year. Vy comes over Phong's house so that they can go to school together. But Phong is having breakfast. Now listen to the conversation between them.
- Play the tape and ask students to listen without textbook for the first time, the second time repeating the conversation with book.
* Practice 
a. T or F statements
- Have Ss read the conversation again and do execise 1a, correct the false statements.
b+c. Find these expressions. Check what they mean.
- Ask Ss to refer back to the conversation to find the expressions ans teacher explains them.
- Ask Ss to role-play the short conversation in pairs, then create short role- plays
2. Listen and read the poem: 
- Play the recording. Let the whole class read the poem with the right intonation ans rhythm.
- Ask some question to make sure Ss understand the poem:
 + Who is the poem about?
 + Where is he going back?
 + When does the new school year start?
 + What have he got?
- Ask st to work in pairs to write a poem about their partner, then read the poem aloud.
3. Match the words with the school things. Then listen and repeat: 
- Ask st to match the words with the school things
- Ask Ss the meaning of some words to check their understanding.
- Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat in chorus.

* Learning tip: teacher models: T writes the word ''calculator' on the board, then draw a calculator. Then ask Ss to do the same with other words.

- Find the words in the text. What do they mean? (boarding, international, surrounded, creative)
- Read the text again and complete the sentences.
*Ask students to look at the three pictures. Encourage them to give their ideas.

dialogue between Mi and Nick about their homes; the structure "There is/ There are" 
and prepositions of place.

- Competency: Ss can understand the dialogue between Mi and Nick, and use 
some prepositions of place.
- Attitudes: Ss are interested in describing position of things in their houses.
